2007-06-01 | May Stats - 123 unique visitors - 157 visits - 536 pages - May 2 busiest visitor day with 18 visitors - May 21 busiest page day with 104 pages viewed - Monday busiest day of the week - 5 bots visited (Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, Voila, SurveyBot, unknown robot) - Diary Display is the busiest page being viewed 48 times - Camp Songs is the second most busy with 44 times viewed - 5 Operating systems used to view site (Windows, unknown, Linux, Macintosh, Web TV) - 8 Web Browsers used to visit the site (MS Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, unknown, Konqueror, Safari, WebTV Browser, Mozilla) - 2 Search Engines used to find the site (Google 46 times, Yahoo 1 time) - 22 links from other sites mostly GoldToken - 38 different keyphrases used to find the site with Janine Bouyssounouse used twice - 129 different key words used to find the site, but these are mostly parts of the phrases used with camp being the most popular - An estimated 59% of people have added the site as a favorite - overall a good month with more people finding the site for educational purposes - still only two sales from the site for the educational resources
2007-06-02 | After adding one song, I decided to add some more. I went hunting on the internet and found more songs I remember singing when I was growing up in Girl Scouts. I added Barges, Boom boom ain't it great to be crazy, Boy and a girl in a little canoe, I've been workin' on the railroad, John Jacob Jingle Heimer Schmidt, Oh how lovely is the evening, Sarasponda, Say when and Six little ducks. This brings it up to about 68 songs on the camp song page.
2007-06-02 | I added the Kookaburra song to the camp song page. I hadn't realized it had been two months since I last updated it.
2007-06-02 | I decided to add a line on the home page stating that there are over 65 camp songs listed so far.
2007-06-03 | Someone searched for blank bingo reproducable today. They looked at the math bingo page. No sale of the Math Bingo packet...
2007-06-03 | The Python Robot visited for the first time today. psbot also came to visit today.
2007-06-10 | I added a link to a math worksheet generation web site. It has ads on it, but the worksheet generation tool is free to use and comes with the answer key to go with the worksheets. I would like to figure out how to make something like this for my site, but for now the link with the ads will have to do.
2007-06-10 | I added the divisibility rules to the math page. These rules help people know if numbers are divisible by specific numbers just by looking at it or doing simple calculations. Not all math teachers teach the divisibility rules and I believe it makes math easier for students, so I wanted to make sure I listed them.
2007-06-11 | More people came looking for camp songs. One person used Yahoo to find the site and the rest are using Google. They seem most interested in the songs with hand motions. I'm glad I added in the hand motions when I remembered them. Most song websites I have seen don't usually include the hand motions.
2007-06-11 | Someone searched for crossword in the english classroom on Google to get the to site today. I have an idea to do more themed crossword puzzles for different writers and works of literature. I wish they would tell me what they want specifically, but I can go through the standards to find specifics to use.
2007-06-12 | Someone searched Google for card game 99 rules and someone else searched for like a ship on the harbor. This is one of the first times someone searched for one of the card games I have listed. I'm impressed.
2007-06-13 | Speedy Spider visited the site for the first time today.
2007-06-25 | People have been searching for more academic things on the website, such as math and english study home, printable study skills games, englishcrossword, sight word poetry printables and triangle crossword. This is all promising. Hopefully teachers will find something over the summer for use in the classroom in the fall. Many teachers spend time over the summers making lesson plans. Summer break is really a misnomer for many teachers.
2007-07-01 | June Statistics: 103 unique visitors - 126 visits - 335 pages viewed - June 1 was the biggest day for users (10 total) - Friday was the busiest day of the week - Every hour covered, except for 23:00 - Most pages viewed by one IP address is 50 - 9 robots/spiders visited the site (psbot, Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, Speedy Spider, Voila, SurveyBot, The Python Robot, two unknown robots) - camp songs was the number one page visited other than the home page - 4 operating systems visited the site (Windows, Linux, Macintosh and unknown) - 8 browsers visited the site (MS Internet Explorer, Firefox, Konqueror, Safari, Netscape, Mozilla, LibWWW and unknown) - 50 hits from search engines (47 Google, 3 Yahoo) - 8 links from other pages, mostly from GoldToken - 48 different keyphrases used to find the site from search engines.
2007-07-08 | ExactSeek Crawler came to the site, as well as Alexa (IA Archiver) and Speedy Spider.
2007-07-11 | Several more hits from Google. Most looking for camp songs, which are high on the most popular list. People also looked for victim awareness and get well grandpa poem, as well as subtraction crossword. Maybe I should have a subtraction only crossword puzzle, instead of mixing it with the addition.
2007-07-14 | Someone found my site by using the word tetactrys. That is pretty cool.
2007-07-15 | I created a Math Tools word search in online and printable format. I loaded them onto the math word search page and the buy ed resources page. There are 18 tools of the trade to find in the computer shaped puzzle.
2007-07-15 | I created a crossword puzzle with simple addition problems along with the printable version and posted them in the math and buy ed resources sections. The answers only go up to 20 and is a good way to practice spelling numbers.
2007-07-15 | I created a house shaped word search for finding the numbers from one to twenty. I called it House of Numbers. I noticed someone looked at the list of math word searches and I remembered there was only one on the list, so I added another math word search to the list for the next person to find.
2007-07-15 | I created a subtraction crossword puzzle with twenty clues, but it didn't come out working the way the others do. I guess this is because I made it with version 8, which I am still trying to understand how to make things look and feel the way I want them to... I haven't made the printable version yet, but I think I should start including links to the ones for sale so people can find them more easily. It's just a thought.
2007-07-15 | I created and posted a Math Tools crossword puzzle using fifteen of the terms I used in the Math Tools word search puzzle. The electronic version is listed on the math crossword page and the printable version is listed on the buy ed resources page.
2007-07-15 | I created and posted the printable version of the Subtraction crossword puzzle on the buy ed resources page. That makes 45 items for sale for very low costs.
2007-07-15 | I was looking for some ideas for more math puzzles and I stumbled upon some great sites which I added to the educational resources page. There is a math dictionary for kids with examples of each math term and a writing site which describes different types of writing and gives organizers for each. Then there is a whole math activity site with colorful and engaging math activities for K-6. They have everything covered from counting through Pre-Algebra. The dictionary site gave me the idea for a tools of the trade math puzzle.
2007-07-15 | I'm happy to say someone has gone through many of the educational links on the site. I hope they found something useful.
2007-07-16 | The camp song web page is still the most popular on the site. Someone searched for the rules to 9 Hole Golf on my site. Someone else looked for stalking victim resources. I'm glad I have been able to provide some assistance for people with what I have posted on my site.
2007-07-23 | Quite a lot of people are using the search engines to find the site. Three people have looked for stalking victim support to find my site this month. Someone looked for polygon word puzzles. I have one of those. Someone looked for ideas to improve writing skills. Someone even looked for the rules to the card game BS. I'm glad I put this title as the alternate for the game. Most of the searches are still for the camp songs. They did pick out one of my favorites (don't chuck your muck in my dustpan). It's a good song to sing while sweeping the lodge floor.
2007-07-26 | I created the printable version of The Rising Sun and listed on the buy ed resources web page. I also added a link to the buy ed resource page on The Rising Sun story page.
2007-07-26 | I finally created the printable version of the reading comprehension story A House Without Walls. I listed it on the buy ed resources page, noting that it included a sheet to answer the questions on the page and that it had an answer sheet. I also noticed that I was missing links to the online store on several sections of the website, so I added it to the crossword pages as well as to the story pages for Freddie's Prize Pie and A House Without Walls.
2007-07-28 | I created the companion word search for the Poetry Types Crossword Puzzle. I posted the online and the printable versions in the English section as well as on the buy ed resources page.
2007-07-28 | I finally got around to creating the Poetry Types crossword puzzle. Someone searched my site for printable poetry puzzles, so I made a crossword puzzle. I might make a word search, too. I can put more terms on the word search.
2007-07-28 | Someone found the site by searching for printable car show packet. That's a new one. I think I only have printable ans packet on my site.
2007-08-01 | July Statistics - 158 unique visitors - 193 visits - 672 pages - 2nd busiest month to date - July 20th busiest day of the month - Tuesday is the busiest day of the month - Site was visited all hours of day and night - 11 robots visited the site (unknown robot, Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, ExactSeek Crawler, Voila, Speedy Spider, SurveyBot, The Python Robot, Alexa, psbot, unknown robot) - Camp Songs page most popular after the main page - Diary Display second most popular - Stalking Awareness made it to the top ten pages this month - 4 operating systems (Windows, unknown, Macintosh, Linux) - 6 browsers (Firefox, MS Internet Explorer, Unknown, Safari, Netscape, Konqueror) - 88 hits from search engines (Google, Yahoo, AOL) - 11 hits from non search engine sites (mostly GoldToken) - 79 different search phrases used to find the site (stalking victim awareness is the top one used and most of them are for camp songs) - this month most actively searched from search engines to date
2007-08-07 | I decided to create the geometry terms word search (online and printable) to go along with the algebra terms word search. I posted them in the math word search and buy ed resources pages.
2007-08-07 | Someone searched for an algebra word search and I realized I created the crossword puzzle, but not the word search. So I created an online and printable version with 31 algebra terms. I posted them on the math word search page and the buy ed resources page.
2007-08-14 | Someone used an unknown search engine to find my site today. Also another person linked to my site from the Wiki How page for Tetactrys poetry.
2007-08-15 | I remembered another camp song and added it to the camp song page. With the addition of Fishin' Hole, there are 69 camp songs listed now. It is still the most popular page on the site, other than the main page.
2007-08-15 | MSNbot came to the site.
2007-08-15 | Someone linked to the site from the Earth Link search engine.
2007-08-20 | I added eleven more camp songs to the camp songs page and now it is up to 80 songs long. I still have more that are missing from the page, but I can only do so many at a time. I updated the home page to show the number reached 80.
2007-08-22 | I created a word search for summer camp phrases. This idea came from someone searching for a word puzzle about summer camp. I posted the online version on the English word search page and the printable version on the buy ed resources page. The puzzle is in the shape of a camera.
2007-08-22 | I just checked out the ivillage link and my math crossword puzzle page is listed as an activity for babysitters to have the kids be entertained educationally. Is that cool or what? Here is the link: http://groups.ivillage.com/sittercity/
2007-08-22 | Someone linked from ivillage.com for the first time.
2007-08-26 | I finally updated that quadratic equation web page by creating a pdf worksheet in its place. I still left the old link active, but I don't have a link to it on the website anymore. People were taking looks at it and I am sure they were hoping for more than was there, so now I have more for them. It has the equation in an easy to read format, an example and four practice problems with answers.
2007-08-26 | Someone searched for a sum of two cubes worksheet, so I created one and posted it as a pdf file on the math resource page. I included the formula, two examples and ten practice exercises with answers on the following page.
2007-08-28 | I created a divisibility rules worksheet with a listing of the rules and an exercise page followed by an answer page and listed it on the math worksheet page. I should also link to it from the divisibility rules web page.
2007-08-28 | I created a new page on the math resources page for math worksheets and moved the links to the four math worksheets to that page. Hopefully this will make the math resources page look less busy and easier to navigate. No one had directly linked to the new worksheets yet and I left the original links active for the old worksheets, so no one who directly links to the worksheets should be disrupted.
2007-08-28 | I decided the answer sheet for the quadratic equation worksheet should have worked out answers, instead of just the final result to help new students understand how to work through the simplifying procedure since many beginning students have difficulties with the simplification process. I also decided that there needs to be a worksheet page on the math page, since I now have four different worksheets listed.
2007-09-01 | August 2007 Statistics - 196 unique visitors (highest since the start of the website) - 221 visits (most people are coming one time to the website) - 558 pages - 619 hits - August 5 was the busiest day of the month with the most visits - August 4 was the day with the most pages viewed - Saturday was the busiest day of the week for the month - The site was viewed at all hours of the day and night - 8 robots visited the site (Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, Speedy Spider, Voila, MSNBot, SurveyBot, unknown crawl, unknown robot) - After the main page, camp songs was the most popular page. This was followed by the diary display, then card games and then math. The stalking awareness page made it into the top ten again. - 4 operating systems (Windows, Macintosh, Linux, unknown) - 7 browsers (MS Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Konqueror, unknown, Mozilla) - 120 links to the site from search engines (This is the highest since the start of the website.) 106 from Google, 7 from AOL, 4 from an unknown search engine, 2 from Yahoo and 1 from Earthlink - 14 links from other sites, including Goldtoken, WikiHow Tetactrys and a babysitting idea site for math crossword puzzles as an idea to educationally entertain - 101 different key phrases used to find the site this month. There were nine searches for the rules to the card game 99. People are looking for stalking resources, camp songs and educational materials, so the site is getting out to people who never heard of it through word of mouth. I get ideas of new resources to create by looking at what people are searching for that I don't already have on my site, such as algebra word searches, printable worksheets for formulas and divisibility rules and other printable ideas.
2007-09-03 | Someone requested a crossword puzzle for multiplication. I figured I had the addition and subtraction ones, it was a good idea. I created it and posted it on the math crossword page, but the clues came out with the length of the words next to the multiplication problems and that looks confusing. I tried to fix it, but the check box to make that happen wasn't checked, so I am not sure how to fix the issue.
2007-09-04 | I finally created a study skills crossword puzzle. It has been requested several times on internet searches for my site. I posted it on the study skills page as well as the English crossword puzzle page. I included 14 different study skills in the puzzle.
2007-09-05 | I got my first link from the MSN search engine today. The MSNBot just started coming to the site a few weeks ago, so it's cool I am already getting someone from there.
| 190 | 2007-09-18 | People used two new sites to find my site. http://www.low-density.com and http://cleveland.cox.net/cci/google
I looked on the websites and I believe search engines were used to find my site from these two pages. |
2007-09-18 | Someone searched for my formula five paragraph essay packet. Someone else searched for "stalking victim did not know what was happening to her" to find my site. At least this shows that people are starting to wake up to how bad stalking is and how the use of date rape drugs take away the ability for the victim to name his/her attacker(s).
2007-10-01 | September Statistics - 259 unique visitors (new record) - 292 number of visits (new record) - 657 pages - 747 hits - September 3 busiest day of the month - Monday busiest day of the week - site visited all hours of day and night during the month - most pages viewed by a single ip address 49 on September 16 - 8 robots (Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, MSNBot, SurveyNot, unknown robot, Voila, Speedy Spider, psbot) - more puzzles being played online (up to 13 times this month) - 107 different pages visited this month - Camp Songs page is still the most popular page after the home page - website diary is the second most popular - study skills page is the third most popular page on the site this month - 5 operating systems (Windows, Macintosh, unknown, Linux, WebTV) - 8 browsers (MS Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Netscape, unknown, Konqueror, WebTV browser, Mozilla) - 183 links from search engines (new record) (Google, Yahoo, AOL, unknown search engines, MSN) - 13 links from other web sites including Wired Instructor, Babysitters website, SCBWI website and WIkiHow - 163 different key phrases used to find the site in search engines with study skills crossword puzzles being the most popular set of key phrases used to find the site (I'm glad I made a study skills crossword puzzle in response to the requests.)
2007-10-12 | I added a sewing and craft section to the website. The only thing listed right now is the pdf directions to make a tote bag with pockets for crayons to carry coloring books. I have plans to make several beginning sewing projects for this page to teach different sewing and craft skills. I used to teach a semester long beginning sewing class for teenagers and most of the projects I will add are made with that class in mind.
2007-10-12 | I created and added a simple sewing kit project to the sewing and craft page. It uses plastic storage bags and a quilted cover to make an easy place to organize and store sewing notions.
2007-10-12 | I created and added a spiral notebook keeper project to the sewing and crafts section of the website. The project uses simple sewing techniques and uses sew on Velcro for a closure.
2007-10-12 | Someone tried my random writing prompts executable. That's pretty exciting.
2007-10-12 | The study skill crossword puzzle is gaining in popularity this month. It is now the second most popular page, after the camp songs web page.
2007-10-20 | Two new search engines were used this week to find my site. InfoSpace and Seznam 149 people have come to my site from search engines this month already.
2007-10-25 | I added a math formula page to the math page. I listed the three formula sheets I used to use with my classes at Lake Tahoe Community College. Mat152A, Mat152B and Mat154
2007-10-25 | I added links to the practice problems I used to use as practice problems to help students get ready for the final exams in the classes I taught at Lake Tahoe Community College. Mat152A, Mat152B, Mat154 are included. They are listed on the math worksheet page in the math section of the website.
2007-10-25 | The divisibility rules worksheet just got popular. 32 people have accessed it this month. I guess they like the divisibility rules with some practice problems.
2007-11-01 | October Statistics: This is a record breaking month for the website... Not in sales mind you, but in traffic... I did also get a new purchasing page that will be open to the public soon, so hopefully that will help with sales. 353 unique visitors, 510 visits, 1585 pages viewed, 2728 hits, Busiest day October 24th with 41 visits, Thursday was the busiest day of the week, the site was visited every hour of the day with no hour under 18 hits, highest number of pages viewed by a single ip address other than mine was 113, 9 Robots/Spiders (MSNBot, Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, SurveyBot, Voila, Speedy Spider, Alexia and 2 unknown robots), The visit duration was longer than usual with 3 people staying for more than an hour on a page, 8 people staying between 30 minutes and an hour and 6 people staying between 15 minutes and 30 minutes. , The worksheets and crossword puzzles were much more active this month with 67 views of pdf documents and 28 uses of the online crossword puzzles with many more people just viewing them. , The camp songs web page (107 hits) was still the most popular after the home page, but the divisibility rules worksheet (56 hits) was next in line for popularity and the diary display page was next (30 hits) with the card games page right behind that (28 hits) and believe it or not the math page was the next on the list (23 hits). , 5 operating systems (Windows, unknown, Macintosh, Linux, WebTV), 9 browsers (Firefox, MS Internet Explorer, unknown, Netscape, Safari, Konqueror, WebTV browser, Mozilla, Opera), 277 links from search engines (Google, unknown, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, InfoSpace, Seznam), 16 links from pages other than search engines most from GoldToken and two from WikiHow,
2007-11-06 | K-Meleon browser visited the site for the first time ever this week.
2007-11-06 | November is already shaping up to be another record breaking month with 96 unique visitors and 148 visits already in less than a week. The divisibility rules worksheet has already been visited 34 times this month.
2007-11-07 | Hey... I made it into Answers.com for my math crossword puzzles. I came up as number 8 in the top ten for the search string crossword puzzle with mathematical equation. This is exciting...
2007-11-09 | I finally linked the new online store to the home page of my site. There are still things I don't really like about it, but I expect that is because this is the free version of the software. It is much easier to see what types of things are for sale and the shopping cart portion is more recognizable and easier to use.
2007-11-09 | I finally submitted another flash story. I uploaded the story to the Flash Exercise page in the info about the webmaster section of the website. The flash exercises are listed on the websites created section. It's called Yes, Dear about a woman starting her own business.
2007-11-16 | I created and added a wide mouth tote bag to the crafts page on the site. I also updated the listing of craft projects on the home page.
2007-11-16 | I created and added three more projects to the crafts page. I added the button pouch, the zipper pouch and the lined zipper pouch. These are pdf documents for people to print off and use. The hope is that this list of projects on the craft page will be the basis for beginning sewing classes in the near future.
2007-11-16 | I created and loaded the directions for a Stitch and Flip Baby Quilt onto the crafts page. This is a quilt as you go style project which is finished in less time than traditional methods of machine quilting.
2007-11-16 | I finally created a two step equation crossword puzzle. The only problem is that the clues say how long the answer is in parentheses and that looks confusing with the equations, but other than that it works and the solutions are correct.
2007-11-16 | I made it into Good Search. It looks like a search engine attached to giving money to charities. www.goodsearch.com
2007-12-01 | November Statistics: 376 unique visitors to the site (site record for a single month), 544 visits to the site (site record for a single month), 1300 pages accessed, 1441 hits, Nov 2 busiest day of the month with 34 visitors, Monday was the busiest day of the week for the month, site visited all hours of the day with a minimum of 8 visitors for a single hour of the day and a max of 130 visitor for a single hour, 54 pages viewed by a single ip address as high for the month, 8 robots (MSNBot, Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, Speedy Spider, Voila, SurveyBot, psbot, unknown robot), 120 pdf documents accessed, Divisibility Rules Worksheet most popular page with 111 visits, math crossword page second most popular with 82 visits, these are followed by campsongs (78) and the website diary (31), 4 operating systems (Windows, unknown, Macintosh, Linux), 9 browsers (MS IE, unknown, Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Konqueror, K-Meleon, Mozilla, Opera), 297 links from search engines (site record for a single month) (Google, unknown, Yahoo, AOL, MSN), 17 links from external pages, 209 different key phrases searched to get to site (divisibility rules worksheet is the number one thing searched for to get to this site, multiplication crossword is the second) This is the best month yet for the site in terms of amount of traffic and number of web pages viewed (299 different pages viewed on site).
2007-12-07 | Camino web browser was used to visit the site for the first time.
2007-12-07 | Vivisimo web site used to find edonyourown. vivisimo.com
2007-12-08 | A House Without Walls has a pdf version posted. It has a worksheet page with room between questions for the hand written answers.
2007-12-08 | I added links to the pdf versions of the math crossword puzzles. I'm going to see how popular they get. Some teachers might prefer the printable version to use in class, instead of the online version. The goal is to help students, teachers and parents...
2007-12-08 | I decided to include the pdf versions of the math word searches along with the crossword puzzles. The links are on the pages where the puzzles are listed.
2007-12-08 | I linked the English crossword puzzle pdfs, but I noticed I am missing a pdf for one of them and I have five more coded puzzles in pdf that are not listed as online versions. I like solving the coded ones on paper better because the words are listed. I'll look into posting the online versions and their pdf versions to go along with them. I also have a subjects to study word search that isn't available online. I guess I better see that everything is up to date.
2007-12-08 | I posted the nine writing prompt packets on the writing journal page listed in study skills and English. I also noted that I haven't announced the writing journal page very well at all. I couldn't find it listed anywhere on the pages, so I'll have to fix that. Each packet has a blank table of contents for students to fill in as they go and 20 writing prompts with lined pages as well as a blank lined page at the end for original ideas. There are enough of these pages to cover every day of the school year.
2007-12-08 | I updated the home page with a few things I noticed were missing in the different sections. I believe the content on this page helps determine if things on the website are found in search engines. It's good to keep it updated.
2007-12-08 | The English word searches have pdf links now.
2007-12-08 | The Formula Method of writing a Five Paragraph Essay has a pdf link now. I like the pdf version because it has a ready to use worksheet, worksheet directions and a page to write out the long hand version of the essay. I've used it with middle school students and it works very well. Students who didn't think they could write a five paragraph essay have their first one in not too much time. Most of them thought they were cheating because it was so easy. It's all a matter of changing their perspective on how easy it can be to write. Work on the details once there is something on the page. The first step is to get it written.
2007-12-08 | The Fun with Archimedes worksheet is posted on the math worksheets page. This is my favorite puzzle page out of all the ones I have created to date. It has a handful of simplistic algebra vocabulary words that are used to spell out a quote by Archimedes. The quote is referenced for further research.
2007-12-08 | The Introduction to Programming crossword puzzle has a pdf link now. It is on the computer science resource page.
2007-12-08 | The Tetactrys Poetry pdf is posted. It's 15 pages long with examples and steps for creating poems with a worksheet at the end to write poems.
2007-12-08 | The pdf for Math Bingo is posted on that page. It contains a Bingo grid to be filled in with answers to the questions for the students to play.
2007-12-08 | The pdf version of Freddie's Prize Pie is posted. It has a page with questions and room for the answers after each question. This is a nice version to use in a classroom or at home for extra practice or home school.
2007-12-08 | The pdf version of The Rising Sun is posted now. It has a worksheet page with room for answers to the questions.
2007-12-08 | Using cards to learn math has a pdf link on the page now. The packet includes the tips listed on the web page as well as the rules to the card games 99 and Add to 15. 99 is for multiple players and Add to 15 is a solitaire game.
2007-12-09 | Dogpile was used for the first time to search for my website.
2007-12-12 | I updated my online work experience and education listings to include opportunities through Kelly Services. I might as well keep things up to date. The brush up on accounting skills might come in handy for future job possibilities. Crystal Reports is an interesting way to pull reports from a variety of databases. It is listed as the industry standard. I am interested to see how the online accounting classes go without buying the heaving accounting books that usually accompany those classes.
2007-12-16 | I added Canasta to the card game rules page. I added it on the main page as well. I typed the rules I use when I play. There are other variations as well.
2007-12-29 | I made it into the starware search engine this week. http://as.starware.com/dp/search
2007-12-29 | The MSNBot visited today. I think this is the first time it has visited my site. I have received hits from the MSN search engine, but maybe this will bring even more.
2007-12-30 | Ask Jeeves bot visited my site today. This is exciting. It will bring more people to the site, since the site is largely educational and AskJeeves plays to the student and teacher crowd.
2007-12-30 | I created and added the divisibility worksheet for three. I posted it on the math worksheets page as well as on the divisibility rules page.
2007-12-30 | I created and posted a divisibility rule worksheet for two. Based on the phrases people used when searching for my site, there is a need to have individual divisibility rule worksheets, so the rules may be taught individually and practiced individually. I'll see if I can get one done for each rule. I have it posted on the math worksheet page as well as on the divisibility rule page.
2007-12-30 | I created and posted the divisibility rule for nine. It's posted on the math worksheets page as well as on the divisibility rules page.
2007-12-30 | I created and posted the divisibility rule worksheet for five. It's posted on the divisibility rules page and on the worksheet page.
2007-12-30 | I created and posted the divisibility worksheet for ten. It's posted on the divisibility rules page and the math worksheet page.
2007-12-30 | I was in the mood to write, so I responded to three more prompts for the flash exercise online group. I added them to the bottom of the list on my flash exercise online portfolio found under information about the webmaster and websites created. By now you know this is a dumping ground for my electronic accomplishments. It doesn't include the extensive listing of procedures and training documentation I created while at the Stanford Bookstore and Intel, but that's okay.
2007-12-30 | The first person found my website by using the Netscape search engine today.
2008-01-01 | December Statistics: 350 unique visitors, 397 visits, 1814 pages viewed (site record), 1999 hits, busiest days Dec 4 and Dec 17 with 25 visitors each day, busiest day of the week is Sunday for highest average pages, site visited at all hours of the day with 6 pages in an hour as the minimum and 424 pages in an hour as the maximum, most pages looked at by one ip address was 398 pages during the month, 9 bots visited (psbot, Googlebot, MSNBot, Inktomi Slurp, AskJeeves, Voila, SurveyBot, Speedy Spider, unknown robot), visitors visited the site for various lengths of time, including 3 pages for over an hour and 3 pages between a half hour and an hour, pdf documents were accessed 260 times during the month, most of them are the worksheets and the crossword puzzles, the new shop page (128) was the most popular page after the home page, after that was the math crossword page (103), then the divisibility rules pdf (91), camp songs came next (57), diary display was next (51), 4 operating systems (Windows, unknown, Macintosh, Linux), 8 browsers (IE, unknown, Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Konqueror, Mozilla, Camino), 276 links from search engines, 22 links from other web pages, 183 key phrases used to search for the site with divisibility rules as the highest searched item.
2008-01-06 | Big Finder was used to find my site. http://www.bigfinder.de/ Hey, I'm international...
2008-01-19 | I added Math Playground http://www.mathplayground.com/index.html to the list of educational games. I saw a worksheet generator that I liked better than the ones I've seen at EdHelper.com. It used JavaScript to set up the initial screen and then went to an asp script to generate a new window with the worksheet which could be turned into a printable version and could print off an answer key as well. It is very flexible and I want to see if I can create something like that at some point. There are a few things I would change about their set up, but overall it is the best worksheet generator I've seen yet.
2008-01-19 | I created and loaded a conic section crossword puzzle. The online version didn't show the superscripts for the exponents, so I had to modify it to use carrots, but I was able to show the exponents correctly in the printable version. I used the formulas and definitions as well as examples of the conic sections to make the puzzle more robust. The only way to have one word used more than once in the puzzle is to have the singular and plural versions of the words. So I tried to make the definitions sound plural and used the equations for the singular version of the words.
2008-01-19 | I created and posted a polynomial crossword puzzle with the online and printable version. I used word definitions as well as examples, like the conic section crossword puzzle.
2008-01-19 | The Holmes bot came to visit the site for the first time today.
2008-01-20 | Hey, I guess I was in the mood... I responded to another flash exercise prompt and posted it on the flash exercise online portfolio web page under websites created under information about the webmaster. The Daredevil touches on points of view in life.
2008-01-20 | I decided to respond to another flash exercise prompt. The musings of a scientist gone bad called Life and Times of a Criminal Scientist is posted on the flash exercise online portfolio listed under websites created under information about the webmaster. Sometimes the words have to come out, even if they don't make sense to the masses...
2008-01-20 | I guess I'm on a roll today... I posted another flash exercise. This time it is about a well-meaning friend turned criminal. It's listed on the Flash exercise online portfolio page under the websites created section of the information about the webmaster page.
2008-01-20 | I was going to stop writing flash fiction today and move on to something else, but I saw the typo in the flash exercise prompt and could not resist. The Radio Announcer in Full Sling is the result and is posted on the flash exercise online portfolio under the websites created under the information about the webmaster section... :)
2008-01-23 | I decided to give the newest flash exercise prompt a try. The Heated Debate is posted on the flash exercise online portfolio page which is on the page about the webmaster under websites created. Enjoy.
2008-01-27 | I decided to go back to the Friday Flash Exercise prompt and do that one. It was a harder prompt for me because nothing came to me immediately. I usually have an idea in my head as I read the prompts, so I decided to find one for the story entitled The Four Martini Lunch. I basically patterned it from the explanation of the prompt. It's a bit out of my experiences, so I wrote about the opposite of the prompt. It's posted on the flash exercise online portfolio page under the websites created section of the information about the webmaster.
2008-01-27 | Today's Flash Exercise seemed to be a bit of a challenge that needed to be met. I tried my hand at a contest prompt just for fun and posted it on the flash exercise online portfolio page under websites created under information about the webmaster. I called it The Hidden Object from the way the prompt started. This was a much longer prompt than I am used to seeing, so it was interesting to finish something started by someone else's first two paragraphs.
2008-01-29 | I responded to today's flash prompt. Only one thought came to my mind and it was very cliche, but at least I got something written. That has to count for something... It's Time is listed on the flash exercise online portfolio page under the websites created link on the information about the webmaster link.
2008-01-30 | MY FIRST EVER PUBLISHED PIECE OF WRITING!!!! I just found out that my flash fiction story IT WAS IN THE CLAUSE will be published in the mid-March publication of Clockwise Cat http://clockwisecat.blogspot.com/ It states it is a Progressive Literary Magazine. I guess that means I'm progressive. Can you tell I'm excited?

2008-02-02 | I responded to the latest flash prompt. Extender Attachment was the result. It's only 48 words and dabbles with the imaginary world we call speculative fiction or science fiction. Enjoy. It's on the flash fiction online portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-02 | My brother noticed I had the wrong story showing for It's Time. This has been corrected on the flash fiction online portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-02 | Someone asked about a yearly calendar, so I looked for ones online and came to a few as Excel templates for free download. I added them as links on the organization skills page under study skills. Calendars help with organization and learning how to use Excel is also helpful.
2008-02-03 | I got into the mood to write C++ code, so I started working on my 99 game, but I decided to take a break from that to write a high low guessing game. I posted the executable and the code on the C++ page in the computer science section. I couldn't get the brackets to show up around the include files. I forgot how to do that in html, so I just left them off for now.
2008-02-03 | I responded to the flash prompt for today. I wasn't all that thrilled with the prompt, but I thought it would be good to give it a try anyways. Who Was That Man? is the result. It's posted on the flash exercise online portfolio page under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-05 | I responded to today's flash fiction prompt and ended up with a story that people will most likely groan at... But that's okay... I like puns. It's called Look. What's That Up In The Sky? and is posted on the flash online portfolio, under websites created, under info about the webmaster. Enjoy... I also posted some comments about other stories I have posted.
2008-02-06 | I am always amazed when I see things like this... Someone actually searched for the phrase "algebra terms crossword puzzle by janine bouyssounouse." This kind of thing throws me for a loop that someone knows I created an algebra terms crossword puzzle and knows how to spell my name. It's very impressive... I guess they were looking for the online version of the printable. It's been played several times this month. Cool... I like it when my educational stuff gets used. It makes me feel like I'm contributing to the educational world... yeah!
2008-02-09 | I forgot to say where I posted the compilation of writings. I posted it on the page under the link for information about the webmaster. I just added it to that first listing of items contained on that side of the site. It's only 32k right now, so it doesn't take that long to download it. I wasn't sure how slow it would be on a dial up connection, but it wasn't too bad. I've already seen things I have left off of the document, so I will have to work on continuing to update it. I hadn't realized how much writing I have done in the past year. It's a lot when looked at all in one document.
2008-02-09 | Protection? Where Do I Begin? is the title of the story I just posted on the flash online portfolio page under websites created, under info about the webmaster. I didn't feel all that inspired by the prompt, but at least I got something written. It feels more like the beginning of a longer story, though.
2008-02-09 | Today I decided to put together a compilation of my writings. I didn't think it would take all that long. I just wanted to pull it all together and annotate my writing with information about when it was written and some of the motivations for my writings. I had the idea of printing it out and binding it to send to some people in my life who might not have had time to find my writings on the website. I also wanted to have a record of why I wrote what I did during this time in my life. It seems important to document this part of my life. I still have more of my writing journal to type up, but I am up to over 130 pages already. I didn't want to include all of my puzzles and worksheets, so I just included a sample of them. Those documents are specially formatted and the formatting doesn't always transfer over into a different document. They can be printed off in their pdf format anyways. Most of my writings are not in pdf format on this website, so this document helps with that.
2008-02-10 | The flash fiction prompt for today made me think of my stalking situation, so I wrote a story to illustrate some of the strangeness that has been happening... It's the newest story on the list at the bottom of the flash fiction portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-11 | I wasn't able to log into my website account today. It is quite disturbing. I guess I will have to check my statistics another day. I logged in just fine yesterday... I logged a trouble ticket and I should get a response by Tuesday.
2008-02-13 | The MSIE Crawler visited the site for the first time today. This is different from the MSNNot. It will be interesting to see which search engines this one brings to the site.
2008-02-14 | People are interested in my compilation of writings. It has been downloaded nine times be people other than myself since I first posted it on Saturday. I've also noticed an increase in people looking at the website versions of the items in the puzzle and worksheet section. Some people have managed to find items I forgot to represent in the sampling of puzzles and worksheets. Perhaps I should put more of them in the document. I will think about it as I finish filling in the other writings I am still missing. There has also been a surge in the number of times my website diary has been viewed. It is right after the math crossword page in popularity so far this month.
2008-02-14 | Since I posted my compilation of writings, I decided why not post the spreadsheet I put together over a year ago with ideas for what I would like to add to this website. I have grand ideas. Some of them have already been implemented on the site and others have a long ways to go. I realized I have not created the magic decoder ring for word problems yet and that needs to be posted on the site. It is how I learned how to do word problems so they didn't seem scary. I used to teach it at the Lake Tahoe Community College when I taught the beginning level of Algebra there. The students responded well to it and thought it was very helpful. I did it as a group activity to fill in the chart on the board and students took notes. I never created a printable version of it, but now that I'm not in the classroom anymore, I think there should be a printable of it. I say Mr. La Duke at John Adams Jr High School was the one who taught it to me and I am just passing it on to other students.
2008-02-17 | I missed a couple of flash prompts this week, but I decided it was time to respond to the one that came out today. I knew what kind of story it had to be with the prompt given, so to me the story just had to go the way it did and there wasn't much of a choice about it. It will be interesting to see what the remarks are about it. It's called The Valentine's Day Dinners and it is posted on the flash exercise online portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-19 | I decided to respond to today's flash writing prompt, even though the story isn't much of a story. It is just what came to mind when I saw the prompt. I have no idea how people will react to it. It is a bit harsh.
2008-02-23 | Ask Jeeves search engine was used to connect to my website. I'm glad I made it into that one. That one has a lot of education people using it.
2008-02-23 | So now that I can update... I will let you know that Just Another Errand was the story posted on Saturday for Friday's flash fiction prompt. It's also in the usual place on the flash portfolio, under websites created, under info about the webmaster...
2008-02-24 | I wasn't able to update yesterday, so I will give it another try today. The Inner Monster is today's response to the flash exercise prompt. It's in the usual place... Enjoy.
2008-02-25 | An amazing number of people have been visiting my website lately. I have an increased number of links to my site from email accounts, which means my website address is being passed from person to person by way of email (cool...). There was a huge number of people on my website over the weekend. 74 people went to my site on Saturday and 85 people went on Sunday. My compilation of writings has been accessed 27 times in the past couple of weeks since I first posted it. People have noticed I am still updating the document. My crayon tote back is suddenly very popular as well. One person accessed it around a 100 times. I'm not sure why that happened, but there are quite a few other people accessing it as well.
2008-02-26 | I responded to today's flash prompt, but I wasn't feeling inspired by the prompt, so it's short and who knows, maybe someone will even like it... Stay tuned for the reviews... It's posted on the flash portfolio under websites created under info about the webmaster.
2008-02-27 | I decided I should put up more of my C++ code for the executables on the C++ page. I put them up for the Java, but not CPP, until this month. I added Jumble Jr today. It is the shell for something I would like to grow into a larger program at a later date. It is also similar to what I would like to do with sight word crossword puzzles.
2008-02-28 | I found out from the tips that show up when I open the program up that Bloodshed Dec C++ has the ability to export the code for a program into a web format. So, I updated the existing pages showing code and added the other two that were missing from the C++ page under the Computer Science link on the first page. My math program has a math bug in it when you take a second round of questions. I have a variable that hasn't been set to zero for the second path. I just haven't fixed it yet. I hope to get back to more of the programming side of things soon.
2008-03-01 | February Statistics: What a month... 573 unique visitors, 749 visits, 3091 pages, 3516 hits, Feb 24th biggest day for visits 85 visits, biggest day of the week was Friday with 145 pages viewed, all hours of day and night were used to access the site with a minimum of 15 pages viewed in an hour period, highest number of pages viewed by one ip address is 498 pages during the month, the second highest was 412 pages, 10 robots (Googlebot, Inktomi Slurp, MSNBot, AskJeeves, psbot, Voila, SurveyBot, Speedy Spider, Unknown robot, MSIECrawler), 1 person viewed a page for more than an hour, 13 pages viewed between 1/2 hour and hour, 17 pages viewed between 15 min and 30 min, 27 pages viewed between 5 and 15 minutes, 485 times people viewed pdf documents (They like my printable resources.), the new online shopping pages were viewed twice as much as the home page, coloring book crayon tote was viewed 181 times, website diary viewed 123 times, math crossword page was viewed 101 times, camp songs viewed 99 times, info about the webmaster was viewed 79 times, divisibility rules worksheet viewed 64 times, math web page viewed 54 times, algebra terms crossword pdf viewed 51 times, compilation of writing viewed 37 times, 4 operating systems (Windows, Macintosh, unknown, Linux), 9 browsers (MSIE, Firefox, Netscape, unknown, Safari, Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror, Camino), 347 links from search engines (Google, Yahoo, AOL, unknown, Ask Jeeves), 64 links from other websites, including links from email, 250 search keyphrases used (divisibility rules worksheet and algebra crossword puzzles are the top ones
2008-03-01 | I responded to the flash fiction prompt from yesterday. It isn't really a story, but more of a look at a slice of life from the past that may come into play again in the future. The story is called Three Men and is found on the flash exercise online portfolio, under the websites created section under the info about the webmaster link.
2008-03-02 | I created and posted two blank multiplication charts. One for 0-9 and the other for 0-12. I added a page explaining my method for filling them out and why I allow older students to use them instead of calculators. I have actually seen the charts get used less and less over time as they memorize the patterns of numbers by tracing over them so many times with their fingers. I posted these in the math section under worksheets as well as under the new page about using multiplication charts.
2008-03-02 | I got CNN top stories rss feed to show. I still have the problem I've always had with the font being way too large, but I'm just happy I got it to work. I used a rss to javascript converter (http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/build.php) and cnn is very slow loading on dial up. I haven't decided if I will stick with CNN or not. I might just leave it for a while and move onto other things on my to do list. At least I have a live feed again.
2008-03-02 | I got a very interesting link from another website today. It's from a website that doesn't exist with links on it. www.example.com is reserved for documentation purposes and does not get used for normal website construction. I'm getting used to unusual things happening around me.
2008-03-02 | I noticed my RSS feed broke a little while ago. I've been looking for a new one, so until I find one I like and can get to post properly, I'll leave it off the home page.
2008-03-02 | I responded to today's writing prompt for the flash group. It seemed like it was a duplicate I've seen before, but this is the first time I've responded to it, so maybe I read it in some book. Jim's Secret Weapon is posted on the flash exercise portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-03-03 | A new browser was used to find my site today. It's called LibWWW. I think it is from the Rapid City Library. That's pretty cool...
2008-03-04 | I responded to today's flash exercise prompt. This story ended up a bit longer than my usual ones. It's called Metal in the Sand and is on the flash exercise portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster. Enjoy.
2008-03-07 | I had my first sale on my website today that didn't come from someone I knew. I was a little shocked, since I have been posting my pdf documents for free. I sent it off to the customer as an attachment on the email and said I was more than willing to make a custom crossword puzzle with words and definitions of her choice, from a topic or from a list of words. We'll see what happens.
2008-03-08 | I responded to the prompt today. It felt like it was supposed to be about a tough bad guy, but I liked it better as a little kid story. Little Jon is the story that happened. It's under flash portfolio, under websites created, under info about the webmaster. Enjoy.
2008-03-09 | I responded to the prompt for today. People complained about my last two stories, so we'll see what they have to say about this story. I added a better ending, so maybe it will pass. It's listed on the flash portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster. Have fun.
2008-03-11 | I responded to the prompt for today and the posting by the guy who sends out the prompts talked about the governor of NY and his legal troubles. So, I wrote the story in that vein. I put a caution on it for sexual content. It's on the flash exercise portfolio, under the websites created link, under the info about the webmaster link.
2008-03-18 | I haven't had much of a chance to update things on the website this last week. I just updated my last flash story with a critique. I was wondering if anyone in the group read it or that they didn't like it so much they decided not to say anything at all. This person really liked it, so I guess it must be okay. I liked it and that counts for something.
2008-03-19 | A while ago I made seven coded crossword puzzles. They are so much easier to do on paper because the word lists are included. I couldn't figure out how to get them to show up on the interactive version. I just now loaded them onto the website and listed them on the English crossword page. If I ever figure out how to get the words to show up online, I'll change the online versions.
2008-03-20 | I finally got around to responding to another Flash prompt. I called it A Whole New Life and posted it on the flash portfolio page under websites created, under info about the webmaster. I hope people like it better than some of the recent ones. I enjoyed writing it, so that is the main point. Enjoy.
2008-03-22 | I finally got around to making the printable reading comprehension document for the story called Getting Ready to Strip. I put the link on the story page in the English section under the listing Stories. The story is one one page with the questions about the story on a second page with space to hand write the answers and the answer sheet is on the third page.
2008-03-22 | I finished creating and posting the pdf version of the reading comprehension activity for Write Sale. The story is so short I put the questions on the same page as the story. The answers are on a separate page. It's on the Write Sale page listed on the stories page in the English Resources section.
2008-03-22 | I finished the printable resource for the reading comprehension activity for the story The Wedding. It is linked to the story page on the stories web page under in the English resources section. There is a worksheet page to write in the answers as well as an answer sheet provided in the document.
2008-03-22 | I put in a story for Friday's prompt. I see it as a story that could chronicle the life of a kid and his alien playmate. I can see them growing up, going to college and then into the workplace as silent partners. I think it would be fun. I called it Some People's Kids and it is listed on the flash portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-03-22 | The Wedding reading comprehension printable resources is created and linked to The Wedding web page listed on the stories page on the English Resource page. The resource includes answers to the questions.
2008-03-22 | Yosemite reading comprehension activity is in a printable format and linked on the Yosemite story web page listed on the stories web page in the English resources section of the website. This is the last of the reading comprehension activities to be turned into a pdf. I believe the pdf documents will help teachers use the story more easily. They can print it off and make copies. It also gives them an easy reference to the answer key.
2008-03-26 | Adobe Acrobat was used to access my website. It is listed as a Grabber. I guess someone navigated to the site by using the open command and then pulling down one of the pdf documents directly from the website. That is something I don't think I would have thought of doing. It's a very interesting way to access a website.
| 307 | 2008-03-26 | How exciting is this??? My first published piece of writing is on the website for Clockwise Cat in issue 8 of the online magazine. Scroll down to see my name listed under fiction at http://www.clockwisecat.blogspot.com/ or go to it directly at http://clockwisecat.blogspot.com/2008/02/one-flash-fiction-by-janine.html
Woohoo!!! |
2008-03-26 | MSIECrawler came to the site today. I don't remember if this one has been to the site before or not, but it stood out as one I didn't recognize from the regular list.
2008-03-27 | Earth Link was used to search for my website. I believe that's the first time that search engine has been used to find my site.
2008-03-27 | I finally wrote a response to Tuesday's flash prompt. This one is about a hapless dragon. It's called Oops and is listed on the flash portfolio under websites created under info about the webmaster.
2008-03-29 | I just wanted to make a bouncing ball movie... It is hard to get objects to follow the guidelines, so I thought I would practice it. I tried to add words to it and the whole thing got messed up, so I took them out. I think I'm going to look at adding buttons next. I noticed there are templates for question and answer types included. I wonder how they work? This is listed on the adobe flash page on the computer science page.
2008-03-29 | I loaded a trial version of Adobe Flash CS3 and made my first flash movie with it. It is a lot like Macromedia Director that I learned while I was working on my masters in education with an emphasis in educational technology. The movie I just loaded is on an Adobe Flash page I listed on the Computer Science page. I didn't want to get it confused with my flash fiction page elsewhere. I just followed a tutorial to create the first movie. I'll move forward from there.
2008-03-29 | Just playing with some words changing colors and words... I'm sure things will get easier any minute now... See the next flash on the Adobe flash page listed on the computer science page.
2008-03-29 | Now don't laugh too loud... I drew a duck (pretend it looks like a duck) and a path for it to swim on and made a little movie out of it. It's listed on the Adobe Flash page which is on the computer science page. Okay, it makes me laugh to look at it. Everyone needs laughter in their lives...
2008-03-30 | I found another tutorial and this one gave me a better bouncing ball using Adobe Flash. It's listed on the Adobe Flash page under the Computer Science section. I'm not to where I was to make the kind of stuff I want yet, but I'm on my way.
2008-03-30 | I learned how to rotate an object while it flows on a predefined path. The rectangle does a 360 on a wild path. It's listed on the Adobe flash page on the computer science page.
2008-03-30 | I saw a tutorial of a bouncing ball and I couldn't get the sample file to run, but I was able to recreate it on my own and add a second ball to the show. This one shows the ball squashing against the imaginary wall and bouncing back. I sped up the frame rate to make the animation more smooth. It's listed on the Adobe Flash page on the Computer Science page as Even Better Bouncing Balls.
2008-03-30 | I spent a few hours going through a more complex tutorial to create a banner simulation. Clicking anywhere on it opens a window or another tab to go to my main page. I'm pretty impressed with it. I imported items to do the tutorial. I did not make the graphics in this one, just the text and I modified the action scrip. It's on my Adobe Flash page on the computer science page.
2008-03-30 | Now I can make things fade away into nothing. So I have moving fading text listed on the Adobe Flash page under Computer Science.
2008-03-30 | Now instead of just moving things, I can change them into other things. That's pretty cool. See The Change listed on the Adobe Flash page under the Computer Science listing.
2008-04-01 | I decided to do a little work on worksheets. The easiest one to do first is the one for the difference of two cubes to go along with the sum of two cubes. I was really lazy and made them almost identical. I decided this was okay because I always taught that these two were almost exactly the same formula. I told the students that the first sign in the formula was the same as the problem and the next sign was the opposite. The last sign was always a plus. If you look at the formulas you will see what I am saying. That way they only had to really learn the formula one time and use it for two different cases. It's listed on the math worksheets page off of the math resources page.
2008-04-01 | I finally took the time to look at the phrases people were using to find my website and I found several where people are searching the internet just for my stuff. People looked for geometry terms crossword puzzle with my website name as well as my name. Someone searched for my name and Deadwood. Someone looked for edonyourown geometry. There are also ideas for other math worksheets and crossword puzzles, like rationalizing the denominator and multiplying binomials. Someone looked for zipper foot and my name. I guess my zipper technique was remembered by someone. I guess I should make some puzzles with perfect squares and perfect cubes, since they're used so much in algebra. I should also finish making that companion difference of two cubes worksheet to go along with the sum of two cubes or vice versa. Many things on the to do list...
2008-04-01 | I'm trying to get back to responding to every flash writing prompt. Today it was in honor of opening day and was to be about baseball. I didn't have much to write about it, so I went outside of the world for their version of the activity. I called it Out of Town Observations. It is listed on the flash portfolio page under websites created, under info about the webmaster. We'll see what the group has to say about it...
2008-04-01 | March Statistics: 685 unique visitors, 921 visits, 3946 pages, 4487 hits, most visits on one day 64 March 19, most pages on a day 414 March 3, Monday was the busiest day of the week. busiest hour of the day 9 am with 562 pages, least busy hour of the day was 3 am with 28 pages, most pages by one ip address 424 pages, second ip address 376 pages, 7 robots (Inktomi Slurp, Googlebot, AskJeeves, psbot, Voila, Speedy Spider, MSIECrawler), 6 people stayed on a page for more than an hour, 17 between 1/2 hour to hour, 17 15-30 min, 46 5-15 min, pdf documents were accessed 610 times this month, shopping page was the busiest on the site, then the main page, coloring book crayon tote was accessed 145 times, website diary 133 times, math crossword page 116 times, typing test 111 times, info about webmaster 91 times, divisibility rules worksheet 90 times, camp songs 85 times, algebra terms crossword 77 times, compilation of writings 59 times, 4 operating systems (Windows, unknown, Macintosh, Linux), 11 browsers (MSIE, Firefox, Netscape, unknown, Safari, Mozilla, Opera, Acrobat, Konqueror, LibWWW, Camino), 483 links from search engines, 66 links from other web pages (mostly email), 316 key phrases used to search for website (divisibility riules worksheet number one followed by algebra crossword puzzles - crossword puzzles are very popular)
2008-04-01 | The easiest worksheet to go to from the difference of two cubes is the difference of two perfect squares. I modified the cube worksheet to work for squares. It works. It uses exponents other than two to get students used to working with the square root of exponents... At least that is the theory... It's listed on the math worksheet page under math resources.
2008-04-04 | I decided to post my response to Friday's flash prompt on Friday, instead of my usual Saturday. The prompt was about being broke, recalling the times of the depression. My post is a little scary to think about, but I'm used to scary things in my life. It's called Food is Optional and is listed on the flash portfolio page under websites created under info about the webmaster.
2008-04-05 | I continue to update my compilation of writings. It is up to 326 pages now and the pdf file is 1.2mb in size. My table of contents extends for six pages, with 2 1/2 of those pages dedicated to my section called from handwritten to typed. I have continued to include my notes from the author section on each piece included in the document. My cousin said it seemed like a biography written in short stories. She thought it would be helpful to others if I published it. One day I will do more than just offer it as a pdf on my website. Life will improve.
2008-04-06 | I responded to the Sunday Flash writing prompt. I called it Have A Nice Day, Honey! The prompt was about morning coffee. I don't drink coffee, so I tried to make the prompt the start off for a fight between a troubled married couple. I don't know if people will like it or not, but at least I came up with something to write about the prompt. That counts for something. Enjoy.
2008-04-08 | Hey, Dogpile was used for the first time to get to my site today. That's pretty cool. My site is spreading across the internet... :)
2008-04-08 | I added the rules to Spite 'n' Malice to the rules for card games page. I learned how to play this game when I was little. My mom wanted to play with my dad and he said he was busy, so she taught me how to play instead. I've been playing and teaching others how to play ever since. Paula and I used to play this game a lot at summer camp.
2008-04-12 | I took a look at the stats for this month and people are searching for my name and my name with documents on my site. That means they know it's out there and they want to use it... The most popular things searched for on the site remain the divisibility rules worksheet and the math crossword puzzles. People are still searching for thins I don't have created yet, so I will have to get around to working on those. A sewing crossword puzzle and an imaginary numbers crossword puzzle showed up this time around. The compilation of writing document has been accessed 33 times so far this month. I was impressed someone searched for the Math 154 formula sheet. That was what we called the class at Lake Tahoe Community College, so it would be nice to know they are using some of my materials, since some of them were created while I worked there...
2008-04-15 | I decided to respond to the flash prompt for the day. I did it mostly because I haven't posted in a while. It's just a listing more like a stream of consciousness than anything else. Enjoy my tax meanderings... They are listed on the flash portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-04-18 | I responded to the Friday writing prompt. I used the writing prompt for the first line of the story. A Visit To The Country Club is what it is called and it can be found on the flash portfolio under websites created, under info about the webmaster.
2008-04-18 | The Lynx browser was used for the first time on the site. I like that people are trying so many different platforms and so many different browsers.
2008-04-18 | Well, today has been a strong day on the site. So far, 82 people have logged on and they have looked at 299 pages. I'm up above January monthly totals now. Over 300 links from searches at Google have happened so far this month. There was another surge of people passing around my website via email today as well. The crayon coloring book tote is the most popular pdf so far, followed by the divisibility rules worksheet. I have a variety of people interested in the website. That's a good thing.
2008-04-19 | A while ago I made seven coded crossword puzzles. They are so much easier to do on paper because the word lists are included. I couldn't figure out how to get them to show up on the interactive version. I just now loaded them onto the website and listed them on the English crossword page. If I ever figure out how to get the words to show up online, I'll change the online versions.
2008-04-19 | FreeBSD operating system was used for the first time today to access my site. I've never heard of this operating system. It's always nice to know there is access to my site for a variety of operating systems.
2008-04-19 | I created and posted a sewing terms crossword puzzle. I made a pdf printable version as well as the online interactive version. I posted them on the crafts page. People have been asking for a sewing crossword puzzle for a while now, so I finally got around to creating it. I think I'll do a word search as well.
2008-04-19 | I'm making my way through the pages on the website that don't have pdf versions yet. I just made a pdf of the writing journal ideas page under study skills/organizational skills. The link is after the links to the writing journal pages with blank lines and topics at the top of the page.
2008-04-19 | The Three Ring Binder Concept has been turned into a pdf document. I included a homework tracking tool page that can be copied and used as is. It has the rational for using a three ring binder as well as an explanation of a supply list for the three ring binder. I linked it to the three ring binder concept page in the study skills section under organizational skills. This can be printed out and passed out to students and/or parents to help students be organized. I have found this concept works with both high and low end students. It can be applied to a single subject or a binder with all subjects in it. Homework is less likely to be lost or forgotten if there is a place to put it and a place to track it. Parents will find it a useful way to keep track of what is going on in school.
2008-04-19 | The word search is much easier to create. I finished the sewing terms word search for the interactive online version as well as the printable pdf version. They are listed on the crafts page. Enjoy.
2008-04-19 | This is another big day for the site. The day isn't even over yet and there are already 98 visits and 448 pages viewed just for today. The crafts page has been viewed a total of 163 times so far this month. The coloring book crayon tote has been viewed 147 times so far this month. The website diary has been viewed 90 times so far this month. The divisibility rules worksheet has been viewed 79 times so far this month. The math crossword page and the camp songs page have each been viewed 70 times so far this month. My compilation of writing document has been viewed 56 times so far this month. There have been 333 links from search engines so far this month. This is amazing.
2008-04-20 | I responded to the Sunday prompt. It was an open to quite a steamy story, but I kept it without explicit scenes. It's all left to the imagination. Sometimes it's better that way... Enjoy Intermission. It can be found on the flash portfolio, under websites created, under information about the webmaster.
2008-04-20 | I was looking for some old sewing quizzes I used to use when I had a beginning sewing class. Instead, I found an old instruction sheet for a really easy baby quilt pattern that looks great. I taught it as a class at a quilting store in Tahoe in 2003. I had only one student, but it was perfect. She was a retired teacher and a master seamstress. She had never made a quilt and was intimidated by the process. I walked her through it step by step until completion in about 2 1/2 hours from picking fabric to quilting and binding. She was so happy to have a completed quilt. She had friends who were hounding her about making quilts and now she had one to show them so the would leave her alone. The store asked me to teach the class after I used this techniq
2008-04-20 | One of the things people have asked for is an imaginary numbers crossword puzzle. I finally got around to creating it. It is in online form as well as a printable pdf form and they are listed on the math crossword puzzle page in the math resources section.
2008-04-20 | Since I found a reading log from when I was at Visions, I decided to write up a short idea page for how to use it and how it can lead to beginning note taking skills. I linked the reading log to the page and put it all in the study skills section under organizational skills. I'll have to make a pdf version of it at some point as well. I was really only looking for the lost sewing quizzes...
2008-04-20 | Someone was searching for printable math go fish cards. Having never heard of math go fish, I thought of how I would play it and what the printable cards would look like. I came up with a math go fish page with a link to a pdf version of one deck of cards. I plan to make more than one deck, but for now, there is the addition set of cards from 0-9. It's listed on the math resource page. The rules for Go Fish are there as well as a description for how to play concentration with the cards as well.
2008-04-21 | I created a set of multiplication cards for the Math Go Fish game. It's 0-9, so it is suitable for young and old. It's a pdf file linked to the Math Go Fish page in the math section of the website.
2008-04-21 | I got up early today, so I thought I would add another page to the site. I've put my magic decoder ring for solving word problems on the back burner for too long. I created a pdf of the decoder ring and a web page to explain it. I guess I'll have to combine the two at some point into another pdf document, but for now I am happy to just have it out there. I listed it as the magic decoder ring on the math page. Have fun!
2008-04-21 | I made and posted the division deck of cards for Math Go Fish. I came up with the idea to make a deck with prime factors as the answers while I was doing this deck. I guess I could use a lot of different things in math to work with this format. They can all be used in the Math Q&A Mixer activity, so maybe I should link those pages as well. People have asked for the preprinted versions for that activity. I guess I made those by accident. So I think I will continue with harder and harder decks of cards for this activity since they can be used in multiple ways.
2008-04-21 | The subtraction cards are on the Math Go Fish page in the math section. Now the division cards are going to take a bit longer. I don't want to have any answers with remainders.
2008-04-26 | I just added a square roots and perfect squares worksheet to the list of math worksheets in the math section.
2008-04-26 | IPOWER TESTING

2008-04-28 | My site got converted to a new platform on Friday and I have been having difficulties with updating this page as well as getting access to my website statistics. I hope this updates... Take care.
2008-04-29 | IPOWER TESTING 4 Unfortunately, we are not receiving the ERROR message. It will be more helpful, if you provide us the screen shot of the error message so that we can assist you in the better way.

2008-05-02 | The Willow Internet Crawler came to the site.
2008-05-03 | I created a pdf for the Quilt As You GO Method for making a quilt. It is posted in the crafts section of the website. This has become a popular page on the site, so I want to continue to add to it.
2008-05-03 | I thought all was well with this updating feature, but I just got another error message. I hope this will go through.
2008-11-20 | Okay, it looks like my diary page is working again. I have added several new puzzles to the English crossword, English Wordsearch and Math Crossword pages in the past couple of days. I also added two new reading comprehension activity sheets with two of my flash stories. As always, I am trying to keep my compilation of writing up to date. I also added a new flash story to the flash portfolio page under info about the webmaster, websites created and flash portfolio.
2008-11-21 | 11/21/08 Okay... I found some of my updates at the top of my list with zero for the dates. I will try this again to see what happens.
2009-07-07 | 7/7/09 I created another online portfolio. This time for the stories buried in my writing journals. I have them in part 2 of my compilation of writing and now I'm going to start adding them to my list of websites created under the webmaster link.
2009-07-07 | I added some new types of resources in the last couple of months. One is Homophone worksheets and another are Ken Ken puzzles. THe homophones can be found in the English section and the ken ken puzzles are in the math crossword section.
2009-07-09 | I'm continuing to update the journal stories page on the websites created page in my webmaster section of the website. I've got more than ten posted so far. I'm about half way through the ones I have.
2009-07-10 | I finally finished updating the journal stories online portfolio on the websites created page under the webmaster link on the first page. There are 24 of them as of today. They represent a couple of years of journal writing. They are in chronological order, except for one out of order by a day, so you can tell if I've improved over time. Most, if not all of the story ideas came from writing prompts in books. I learned I liked expository writing on seventh grade. I'm still doing it after all of these years...
2009-07-10 | I just added another flash fiction story to the online portfolio of flash fiction stories under websites created, under the webmaster link on the home page. It's one of my super short stories and I wasn't in the mood to write for the prompt that came from the writing group, so this is what came out. Enjoy.
2009-07-10 | I've sent off four puzzles and one story for possible publication this week. I'm also looking for other puzzle creating programs to make it easier to provide a wide variety of puzzles to the publishers. These are all kid magazines. I suppose it would be good to update my submission page on my site. I haven't done that in ages. I've been keeping track of it elsewhere. I use duotrope.com.
2009-07-10 | The statistics for my site are posted under the webmaster link on that listing. Some of the months are missing becuase so much data was missing from those months. I think the site was down for part of that time and that is why the stats are missing. People have told me they couldn't access my site for a while. It was while I had no internet access, so I didn't know. It's back up and running now and that is good. People are still coming to the site. They are looking at the divisibility rules worksheet, the C++ programming packets and the Math Crossword puzzles the most. Of course the camp song web page is also popular. I now have links to books that can be purchased for parts of my site. They are for the camp songs, the C++ computer programming packets and my flash fiction. lulu.com is the publisher for my self published books. I'm very proud to have them available.
2009-07-13 | I am continuing to add the answer keys to the sight word worksheets. They are in their own section in the English section. These are words kids are supposed to know by sight or memory to help with their reading ability. They comprise a large percentage of the words in most reading passages.
2009-07-16 | I added The Letters to my list of journal stories on the journal stories online portfolio under websites created, under the webmaster link. It was started from a writing prompt and I just needed to get a story written. It leaves the reader wondering the real reason behind getting a private eye.
2009-07-16 | I added There Was Hope to the flash fiction portfolio under websites created under the webmaster link on the first page. i had trouble responding to the prompt, so I just wrote about a real experience of mine from growing up.
2009-07-16 | There have been 24 links from searching for my ken ken pdf's on a pdf search engine. That's amazing in just 16 days. I have four ken ken pdf's right now. I guess I should make more of them. They do take a while to make, but I think I'm getting better at it. I have more things to look for when I make them. I'm glad people seem to like them.
2009-07-17 | I posted three stories today. One on the flash portfolio and two on the journal stories portfolio. The Diary, Do You Need Her?, It's Like A Bicycle are the stories. I also submitted The Diary to a literary magazine in hopes of publication. I sent in A Family Such As Theiers to another literary journal as well. I figure I will make a round robin of types of publications I'm sending my stuff to. This is all to say I'm a writer. This is the hardest career change yet.
| 389 | 2009-07-17 | I searched for edonyourown on Bing and came up with some interesting links. I made it onto a metacrawler looking for Math Crossword puzzles. I know I should put this on my links page, I just wanted to dump it here, too. I'm on the same page as edhelper.com. That's pretty cool. http://www.metacrawler.com/metacrawler_spy/ws/results/Web/Math%20Crossword%20Puzzles/1/302357/RightNav/Relevance/iq=true/zoom=off/_iceUrlFlag=7?_IceUrl=true
|
2009-07-17 | I searched for edonyourown on Bing and came up with some interesting links. I made it onto yahoo answers for one of my camp songs. This is way cool. Nobody voted for my answer, but at least someone put it there. They found it by searching fo camp songs. http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080626210519AAzVrJ1
2009-07-17 | I'm also on quantcast. I must have signed up a long time ago or something. They say I have a larger than average female, grad student, low income audience. I guess those are teachers... Hey, my market...
2009-07-17 | I'm number 8 on Bing for the search string camp songs. That's pretty good. That's a major search engine.
2009-07-19 | I added two more stories to the site today. Actually I wrote them both today. I am writing more and more stories and submitting them more frequently as well. This is a good thing. The two stories are The Fix on the flash fiction online portfolio and Men on the journal stories online portfolio. Both of these are under websites created under the webmaster link on the first page. Enjoy!
2009-07-19 | People are searching for my name and the name of my website to find my site. One person even searched for my website and my five paragraph formula method to find that resource. It's nice that people are recognizing my stuff as good to use. People have been taking a look at my LTCC stuff, too. That's where I have a sample syllabus for each class I used to teach. I also have some of my materials I used for those classes posted there as well. The divisibility rules worksheet is the number one download from the site so far this month. Camp songs and the card game 99 are the most searched for things on the site so far this month. Camp songs and math worksheets are very popular on the site, right after the divisibility rules. I like to keep an eye on the statistics, partly so I don't lose any more of them.
2009-07-20 | I posted another journal story on the online portfolio found under the websites created link under the webmaster link on the front page. It's called A Better You. It's a look at self improvement and how sometimes it just isn't needed. Sometimes you just are the best you can be.
2009-07-22 | I just posted another story on the journal online portfolio called The Polite Visitors about some aliens petitioning for residence in the country. It's under websites created under the webmaster link on the first page. Enjoy.
2009-07-22 | So far this month, I have sent off 21 stories and puzzles for possible publication in various magazines. I keep looking through the Writer's Market and hope for the best. I think I am getting better at writing something on demand now. The stories are coming much more easily than they used to. I guess that saying writing begets writing is true. I still continue writing every single day and I'm getting more prolific as I go. I'm trying my hand at essays now.
2009-07-26 | I made it to ebooknetworking for my hello bloodshed dev document, which is the first chapter in my beginning C++ programming book found at lulu.com by searching for my name. http://www.ebooknetworking.net/view-cat-devc-id-736422.html
2009-07-26 | I posted another flash fiction story on the flash fiction online portfolio today. It's called, Let's Get Take Out. Look under the webmster link and then under the websites created link to find the online portfolios.
2009-07-28 | I just finished updating all of the pages on my site that have matching eHow.com pages. That took a while. Now I think I can keep them in synch as I add more pages to eHow. I just wanted a whole bunch of pages up there all at once and then I realized I needed to go back and link them up to my website.
2009-07-28 | I've been entering how to's on eHow.com yesterday and today. I am basing them on what is on the website. I have fifteen up there so far and have received a comment on one of them already. Supposedly there is a pay per click deal that goes on with it. I am in the middle of updating the site to include the eHow.com links on the specific pages they match to. This will take a while, then I will have to add some more. So far I have the formula five paragraph essay up and going both directions. The rest are on the way.
2009-07-30 | I added a widget onto my home page. I put it at the bottom of the news articles. I didn't find out until after I installed it that it came with an ad unless I pay a yearly fee to have it ad free. Oh well. The widget displays what I have posted on Triond.com for my writing. I decided to post my creative writing and poetry. The poems just showed up this morning on the AuthSpot website. My valentine poem has three links to it already. The others have one each. I have only three poems listed so far. I have several stories I am posting at the moment. They are still in editing, but they will show up on my widget when they are published. That's cool.
2009-07-30 | I posted my how to articles from eHow onto google in the hopes that I will get more hits to them from people searching the regular search engines.
2009-07-31 | I posted two more flash fiction stories, one yesterday and one today. Seeing, Hearing and Understanding yesterday and Best Friends today. They are under websites created under the webmaster link. They are on the flash onlin portfolio. Enjoy.
2009-08-01 | I posted the statistics for the month of July under the webmaster link. It turns out people figured out my website diary was up and running again. It got 76 views for the month. That's a lot higher than just me looking at it when I post. Several days have over 100 visitors. I have linked my eHow articles to this site, so that could be driving some of the traffic at the end of the month. A listing of my eHow articles is listed under the webmaster link. The divisibility rules worksheet is back to the top of the list again. It's followed closely by the camp songs since it is summer camp time right now. The programming packets are also still doing well.
2009-08-03 | Oh my goodness... I added a blog to my website. I am now learning about WordPress and how to use it. I am blogging about how it is going. I guess this diary counts as a blog, too, just a messy one. I guess I better link it to my main page. It is currently at www.edonyorown.com/blog
2009-08-05 | I just added a search engine to my main webpage. It looks a little funny because it goes across the whole window, but it works great. It searches my site.
2009-08-18 | Yesterday and today I posted four new flash fiction stories. I got behind a little in posting them to the site. They are the last four on the list starting with If Bernie Did It, So Can I and ending with The Adventure. Someone actually said my writing was improving. Whoopie. Now I need to get back to posting for my blogs.
2009-08-25 | I added two more stories to the flash portfolio. The Playground and Traitors. The Playground already has some good comments that were posted along with the story itself. Traitors was just written this morning, so no comments yet.
2009-08-25 | The Divisibility Rules Worksheet has been accessed 669 times so far this month alone. That is a large number of times it has been looked at for three quarters of a month. www.edonyourown.com has been searched for ten times. People are also seraching for things on my blog. I didn't know I hit on some topics people wanted to know about. Someone searched for my name and crayon tote bag. So people do like what I have on my website. They keep coming back for more. I'll post the full month stats at the beginning of next month.
