SHE'S A BARRACUDA
[FlashXer] EXERCISE: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7. 2008
I was really pleasantly surprised, when I opened
the newspaper this morning--yes, I look at the paper every
day, even though circulation is way down, I still believe--
to discover that they had a full page devoted to the
outrages that took place 67 years ago today. That was
one of the first terrorist attacks, I think. But at least
we know who the perps were, and that was a basic
difference. But surprisingly we had a specific target to
concentrate on...today we still are not sure. Regardless,
it was a terrible thing, and of course it propelled us into
WW11...which certainly changed a lot of lives. My
surprise came because of he recognition of the day:
in past years it seems to be ignored. Oh well,
I better stop living in the past, (I seem to be doing that a lot...
is it a sign of dementia, I wonder?) and better get with
today's world. So here is today's prompt. It may be up to date...
at least it calls for a current effort. So get with it...
BE CAREFUL OF HER. SHE'S A BARRACUDA, AND
MAKES PROMISES , BUT SHE NEVER DELIVERS.
Usual rules. 1000 words. In the subject line, please
your name, the word careful and the story title.
Even if yu wee not yet alive when Pearl Harbor took place,
spend a moment to think about it, and the end results.
We dealt with terror then, let us hope we will again.
We shall, I believe, overcome
Irv.

"Be careful of her. She's a barracuda. She makes promises, but she never delivers," said Frank.
"Oh come on. She can't be all that bad. I'm going to ask her out," said Matt.
Matt approaches the barracuda, "So, wanna go swimming with me?"
"There's a new one. I've never heard that one before. Most ask if I want to go spawn with them."
"Ummmm... So you know you're known as a barracuda, huh?"
"Yes, I do. But I always deliver on my promises. Care to give me a whirl?"
"Um... Uh... Yeah. Sure. Let's go back to my place."
The next morning... "I figured out why you have the reputation you have."
"Oh? Why is that?"
"No one wants to share you. You're fantastic."
"Like I said, I always deliver on my promises. What other promises do you desire?"

Janine,
Hi there. A cute story, short and sweet. No crit.

Nicely written, Janine. Maybe it's just me being obtuse, but I didn't get
the ending. Nothing cited in your manuscript.
