LOOKING FOR GOOD FORTUNE

[FlashXer] EXERCISE: FRIDAY ,NOV. 21, 2008

If you don't recognize the word Chutzpah in the prompt, Google it. Google has a worthwhile definition of it, and that will help you. In today's world, however, I can't visualize people not knowing words like that. Chutzpah has even found it's way into the American Dictionary--at least one or another of them. So the use is universal. To me it is interesting the way some words have become part of our language. Agitah, for example... mez a mez and too many others for me to think of now. Language is always in a state of flux, and I guess we flux around with it all the time. Regardless, here is your prompt pour aujoudhui... Get with it....

IT MAY TAKE SOME CHUTZPAH, BUT SHE'LL DO IT, NOTHING BACKWARD ABOUT THAT LADY. NOTHING AT ALL!

Usual rules. 1000 words. In he subject line, please, your name, the word Chustzpah, and the story title. You can be audacious, if you wish, no one will mind. But wrie something, damn it, write something.. and as you do so,
Have fun

"It may take some chustzpah, but she'll do it; nothing backward about that lady, nothing at all."

"What do you mean, Herb?"

"Didn't you hear, Sally? She was in a train wreck and was the only survivor."

"That's amazing, but why the comment about her not being backward."

"They decided to blame her for the whole thing since she was the only survivor. They locked her up for being crazy and everything," said Herb.

"I don't understand. Why would they do such a thing to a victim?" said Sally.

"I guess they don't have enough crazy people. I guess they decided to start locking up sane people, too. Law enforcement and lawyers had to step in to get it fixed."

"Is she going to be okay?"

"She has to start her life over and find another career since the rumors ruined her other career," said Herb.

"It sounds like she's lucky people were ready to do the right thing," said Sally.

"Yep, she's one tough cookie and she's looking for the good fortune to turn things around."

Hi Janine,

Intersting situation, and good response to the prompt. Nothing cited in your manuscript.

Regards, Mike

Janine,
Good take on the prompt. it would have been nice if you would have fleshed it out a little more though. Just my opinion on that, however.

Nice take on the prompt, Janine. I wondered what her former career was, but not knowing didn't spoil the story for me. The fortune cookie ending is very creative!
