THE PERPETUAL ONE NIGHT STAND

[FlashXer] EXERCISE: TUESDAY, APRIL 3, 2007

Last night was, as most of you may know, the first night of Passover. There were 21 people at the Seder I attended, and that is a very big crowd for a house. It really is. My son, at whose house it was, put two good sized tables in his l8 foot long living room, and we filled the place. If you have never been to a Passover seder, you should wheedle an invitation next year. The food may not be extraordinary, unfortunately Jewish Cusine is not one of he world's most acclaimed, but it is interesting. And of course, the requirement to eat matzoh can be a real pain. (Generally in the stomach) But it is an experience one should have, it is a true cultural experience. So go to one if you can...and I think you will find it is a worthwhile effort. Should you go, and actually see Elijah come in for his free sip of wine, let me know. I've been looking for that drunkard for years and years. Have fun with this prompt:

AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER

This is a ride we all take from time to time. And it should make for a good story. Usual rules apply, 1000 words. In the subject line, please your name, the word Emotional and the story title. Go ahead, let your feelings loose and craft a good story. You'd be crazy if you held anything back.
Have fun.
And, feel for me. I have to eat Matzoh for another week.

4/4/07 EMOTIONAL Janine Bouyssounouse "The Perpetual One Night Stand" (161 words)

"I...love you?" Dirk couldn’t believe the words that fell from his lips. He couldn’t possibly have said them. Dirk didn’t believe in loving one woman. He was a true believer in one night stands.

Yet there she lies next to him in bed. She was asleep, so he might get away with her not hearing what he said, even though she was sleeping with a smile on her face.

He wanted to get up and leave, but they were at his place. He now saw the wisdom in sleeping at her place. Leaving in the middle of the night seemed so much better than staying the whole night.

He made his decision to emotionally push her away starting in the morning. She would surely not want to see him anymore. He would give her the cold shoulder. Women hated when men did that. That would do the trick.

Dirk gave it more thought at dawn. One more night wouldn’t hurt anything...

Janine,
Ah, Dirk! Good to see that a lady's man can still be caught up in the notion that this woman might just be the one. True love is blind, deaf and dumb they say. No nits from me.

Hi Janine. Interesting tale about a man who really doesn't know his own mind/heart. He is about to change his life if he acts on his wish to stay over another night. He may have already fallen in love with his latest conquest.

Here's a nitty change for your consideration: in the first sentence of the second paragraph, change the verb to past tense for consistency.

Hi Janine, Good story!! And a smart girl going to his house. I made a couple of suggestions below just to help tighten. Use or toss as you see fit. Thanks for the fun read, Sandra
