TAX MEANDERINGS
[FlashXer] EXERCISE: TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2008
With Ole' William Shakespear it was the Ides of march we were to
beware, and for a long time we were, so inclined. But then it was
changed
so beware the Ides of April those of you who live in the 50 states
and our
possessions. Today is TAX DAY...and if you like it or not, you gotta
file.
If you don't they won't put you in the clink, exactly, but you will
have a very
hard time, eventually. Hold on there, I am speaking from hearsay,
nothing more than that.
But as a writer if i let my imagination run away with me...
Oh well, here's your prompt for today....
I HAVE THE INCLINATION, CERTAINLY, BUT I HAVEN'T GOT THE TIME RIGHT
NOW...
Usual rules. 1000 words. In the subject line please, your name, the word
inclination and the story title. Find the time to write it, folks. It
is good for
the brain, and worth the effort, always.
Have fun...and don't forget to file...or uncle, he won't like you much.

Tax time?
Is it that time again?
Which post offices are open until midnight?
Dig out the piles of paper needed.
Buy software.
Burn the midnight oil.
Hey, I'm supposed to get money back.
Why did I wait?
Oh yeah, I didn't have all my piles of paper.
Yeah, that's it.
It's not really called procrastination if not all the paperwork is here.
Well, maybe I could have started a little earlier, like two weeks earlier.
Hmmm... Maybe next year...
What shall I do with the money?
Hey, maybe I should self publish my first book.
Yeah, that's a good idea.
Maybe then I'll have the money to pay the taxes for next year.

Very cute - and something I'm sure far too many of us are doing today!

@oddly enough, I was looking for an "is it?" at the end of this line@
