"I've got everything packed for the picnic. I want to get a good place at the park."

"It's hours early for the show. Give me a minute."

"What is taking you so long?"

"I'm just getting rid of my lunch."

"Are you telling me my cooking is so bad you lost your cookies?"

"If they were cookies, that would be another story. Let's go. I'm famished."

Cute little tale. However, I didn't understand the meaning of the first sentence of the last paragraph.

Hi Janine,

Yep, after rereading the sentence, it becamse perfectly clear. I probably shouldn't try to critique works in the evening. Usually my brain turns to bubbly gum by 7:00 PM. Plus, it was so awfully hot here in the desert yesterday, I think my brain fluid dried up and my frontal lobes turned to mush.

So, your story is perfectly fine.
