LOOK. WHAT'S THAT UP IN THE SKY?

[FlashXer] EXERCISE: TUESDAY, FEB. 5, 2008

So far this month the most extraordinary thing, and we all experienced it, I guess, was the super bowl game. I went to my son's house to watch it at a super bowl party...and spent most of the time sitting quietly (for me an achievement) staring at a small screen, while the others were in the family room, where the big TV is. Damn thing must be five foot across...and the picture is quite good. I saw the final TD and that was exciting, i must say. Interesting what things happen in all sorts of endeavors. It was a story book ending, but those things don't seem to happen all that much. Nor do things like our prompt today, but they are the things that tales are made of...so do your best and come up with something...

AN UNEXPECTED WINDFALL....

Usual rules. 1000 words. In the subject line, please, your name, the word windfall and the story title. Wrie a good story, get it published and you might get a check...that would fit the prompt, and the purse too, no doubt.
Have fun

Janine's Windfall "Look. What's That Up In The Sky?" 75 words

"Oh no!"

"What is it, Jerry?"

"Look. Can't you see it, Larry?"

"See what? Are you on something?"

"It's right there in front of you."

"All I see is the tree swaying in the wind, Jerry. What's the big deal?"

Kaboom!!!! The tree house fell twenty feet and crashed into hundred's of pieces.

"I tried to warn you, Larry. I didn't want it to be an unexpected windfall." Said Jerry to his recently crushed friend.

Hi Janine,

Different take on the prompt, and it works.

Nothing to cite in this very short piece with a moral: better listen when somebody tells you something during a wind storm.

Now if this took place in Las Vegas, Jerry could have made some bucks by betting on the idea of a tree falling, or not. Then too, he could have made even more by placing bets on the chances for Larry's survival after being crushed. Heh-heh.

Just gave you some wacky ideas on how to expand this, if you felt so inclined.

Regards, Mike
