THE LETTERS

"Who could have stolen the letters?" asked Mrs. Jenkins.

"That's what I'm here to find out, ma'am," said Charlie the private investigator assigned to the case.

"I showed them to my friends in my sewing club and no one else knows about them," she continued.

"That sounds lik my list of people to talk to, ma'am," Charlie said as he wrote down the names of people in the sewing club.

"I spoke to each person in the club, ma'am and there seems to be a problem. I know where the letters are, but the person who has them claims they were letters to her since they had a twenty-year love affair," explained Charlie.

"I found them in my house," said Mrs. Jenkins.

"Yes, ma'am. Apparently she didn't want you to find them at her house, so your husband saved them for her," said Charlie as he put away his pad and pen.

"Well, they were all written to Darling and he never called me that. Oh well, I get the money, the mistress can have the letters," said Mrs. Jenkins happily.
