THE WATER SPRITE

A stream in the middle of the path made it difficult to stay on the path, so Daren walked alongside the stream and noticed something in the water. It was a tiny water sprite dancing on the surface. She was only one-inch high, too tiny to amount to much danger. So Daren picked her up in his palm to get a closer look.

"Merik is my name. Who are you?" said the water sprite.

"My name is Daren. Pleased to meet you."

"Why did you pick me up? I was in the middle of my exercises."

"I wanted to get a closer look and you didn't look dangerous," said Daren.

The sprite jumped out of his hand and began growing in size until she was twice as big as Daren.

"So how dangerous do I look now?"

"You look a lot more dangerous in this size. Can you get any bigger?"

"Yes." The sprite doubled in size again and picked up Daren.

"You don't look too dangerous now. How about I keep you? That's what you wanted to do with me, right?"
