On a trip down to Long Beach, I decided to take a walk through an outdoor mall area. I think it's called City Place. I was just looking at the different store names, then I burst into laughter when I saw this lizard on a leash on the sidewalk. The man at the other end of the leash was resting on a bench while the lizard was soaking up the sun. I was compelled to take a picture and email it to my family as well as send it to my brother's cell phone. I even saw the need to add it to my Travel Tales.

Other people stepped way around the lizard and didn't want to get near it. I stayed to see the man actually walk with it. The lizard proved to have his own mind and wasn't too interested in going the same direction the man wanted to go. They finally sorted that out and walked happily down the sidewalk together, with the lizard up on his tippy toes and wiggling his body all the way.

I decided to take a different route to get to the Metro bus stop and I was rewarded with this adorable set of statues in the cement in front of a house. You never know what you'll find on the way to the bus stop. They say people should stop and smell the roses, but I think they should take a look at the beauty surrounding them on each and every day.

It's not often you actually get to see the dog that goes with the beware of dog sign. It's good to know there is still truth in advertising.
