Mariachi Plaza Metro Rail Gold Line
The plaza above the underground Metro Rail station at Mariachi Plaza is beautiful. It looks like the start to revitalizing the area.
Aviation Metro Rail Green Line Station
This station links people to shuttles to the LAX airport. It's the hub for several different bus lines, including the Big Blu Bus 3 and the Culver City 6.
Norwalk Metro Rail Green Line Station Sculpture
This huge sculpture of a bee is in the parking lot at the end of the Green Line in Norwalk. I went there to say I had been to all of the rail stations and to see what was there. I didn't expect to find a huge bee.
Bee Art at Norwalk Green Line Station
This bee is at the entrance to the Norwalk Green Line station. The whole station has a bee theme to it. Even the tilework looks like a honeycomb.
Pershing Square Metro Rail Red/Purple Line Station
This neon art can be found high above the ground in the Pershing Square Station on the Red and Purple lines.
Traffic Flow Diagram at Silver Line Harbor Station
I was amazed to find traffic flow diagrams embedded in the cement at a bus stop in the middle of the freeway. I guess it's a good place to put them to remind people why the express busses and rail lines were built in the first place.
Art at the Blue and Green Line Intersection.
There are brightly colored people painted all over this station. They really brighten up the place, especially since so many of them are underneath the freeway. This is also a major hub for busses.
Fish Tank Art at Union Station on LA
The figures on this fish tank are located near the Metro customer service window. This is where a TAP card can be obtained. A special form must be filled out in order to get a discounted TAP card. It takes a while for those to be processed because the passport photo turned in with the application is added onto the card along with your name.
Mosaic at Union Station in Downtown LA
This mosaic is high on the wall at the Metro Rail Gold Line station at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles. This picture is a small part of the large piece of artwork extending several feet on both sides of this picture. The mosaic is underneath where the train tracks are for that station.
Bench Art at Little Tokyo/Arts District Station
This round bench design is on all of the benches at the Metro Rail Little Tokyo/Arts District Gold Line Station. It's the first stop from Union Station on the East LA bound section of the Gold Line, which opened up to the public in 2009. You can catch a bus from the Rimpau terminal to this station. Rimpau terminal links Santa Monica busses to the Metro busses.
Turtle Roof at Pico/Chick Hearn Blue Line Station
This art is hard to see in the morning hours when the sun is still low in the sky, directly in the line of sight of this roof art. This station is near the end of the line and is the first south bound station on the Metro Rail Blue Line that is above ground.
Seagulls on Glass at the Mariposa Metro Rail Green Line Station
The seagulls took me by surprise when I looked at the glass elevator at the bus stop. I've been through this stop, but I've never walked around to see the art on display.
Memorial Park Gold Line Station Artwork
This picture only shows one third of this massive piece of art. The Memorial Park Station in Pasadena is under a retirement community that must have been built with the station in mind. The building overhangs the station which is a few feet below street level, so the station still gets some rain, but there is a large section of cover.
