Creating a PowerPoint Presentation
1.
Organize thoughts
on paper before creating the actual presentation.
a.
Have an idea of
how the concepts will be divided.
b.
Will there be
graphics?
c.
Will the
presentation be given live, on transparencies, or paper?
2.
Open PowerPoint
a.
Click on Start and then Microsoft PowerPoint
b.
A blank title
slide automatically opens
3.
Type in the title
and the author of the presentation
a.
Click on the
sample text and type in your text
4.
Add a new slide
a.
Click on the Insert menu
b.
Click on New Slide
c.
Choose the slide
layout from choices on the right
5.
Type in the text
content for the slide
a.
Click on the
sample text and type in your text
6.
Add graphics
a.
Click on the
graphic areas chosen in the slide layout
b.
Follow the
directions to add specific types of graphics
7.
Repeat steps 4
through 6 until the presentation is finished
8.
View the
presentation
a.
Click on the View menu
b.
Click on Slide Show
c.
Press the mouse
to change between slides
9.
Make
modifications until the final touches are done
10. Save and prepare the slides for presentation (choose
one below)
a.
Print one slide
per page on paper for paper presentations
b.
Print one slide
per page on transparencies for overhead use

Also print
handouts on paper six slides to a page
c.
Save the file on
a floppy, CD, zip disk or other storage media

Choose the format
that will work with the presentation media available
ii.
Also print
handouts on paper six slides to a page
d.
Save the
presentation in a web page format
i.
Load the
presentation onto a webpage
ii. Print handouts six slides to a page if the presentation will be given live. No printouts are needed if the presentation will be viewed by individuals from the web page.
